Which wines are we interested in?

We are looking for ready to drink wines from major wineries around the world. We look for wines from A like Armand Rousseau to Z like Zieregg. In France, classified growths from Bordeaux and Burgundy excit us, in Italy we prefer Tuscany and Piedmont, in Austria the Wachau and Burgenland, and in Germany we are interested in the often undervalued Rieslings. Did you know that around 1900 a good German Riesling was five times as expensive as a Chateau Margaux?

How does the excellis wine purchase work?

Upon receipt of your wine list, you will be notified immediately if the wines are of interest to us. If you don't have a list, never mind. Send us what you have. This can be invoices or a photo of your cellar with two, three or even more wines that you think could be valuable and ready to drink. If you have a larger quantity of bottles, we will be happy to come in person and support you preparing the list.

The more details you send us, the easier it is for us to make an appraisal.

The following information is helpful:

Producer and name of the wine
If available, further vineyard information (e.g. "Montrachet", "Bussia", "Reserve" etc.)
Year
Bottle size (750ml normal bottle, 375ml, 1.5 liter magnum, 3 liter double magnum etc.)
Number of bottles
Loose, original case (OC) or original wooden case (OWC)
Date of purchase and information on storage (possibly with photo)

For bottles that are older than 20 years or have other compromising features:

We are particulary interested that the wines have been properly stored. Life is too short to drink poorly stored wine.

Based on average market prices and the condition of the bottles (storage, fill level, labels, origin), we make a fair purchase offer for the entire wine cellar or for individual bottles.

The pick up of the wines will be made only after cash payment by us. For smaller quantities, we transfer in advance and you send us the wines in a wine packaging box. We will gladly send you appropriate packaging if required.

There are many reasons why you would want to have your wine cellar appraised.
Whether insurance, asset management or divorce, our experts are available for a valuation of your wines even without sale. The most common reason for a valuation is to insure the fine wines against damage and theft. For this purpose, any reputable insurance company requires a list of your wines and the value of each bottle.

Wine cellar insurance of any reputable collection should not be left to your household insurance only. We are in contact with leading wine insurers in Europe and will gladly put you in touch with them so that you can avoid underinsurance and high premiums.
Also, we recommend a periodic re-estimation of your wines every 5-10 years as wine prices can develop very dynamically.

As in the purchase process, the appraisal of your wines can be done by sending us the wine list or a visit by us in your wine cellar can be arranged. If after an appraisal you decide to sell your wines within a year to us, we will deduct the appraisal costs from the purchase price.
